The Doctoral degree program (Ph.D.) in Applied Consciousness Studies is designed to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the current theories of the nature of consciousness, with the ability to apply such knowledge to the advancement of self and society. The Doctoral degree program in Applied Consciousness Studies requires the fulfillment of the Graduate Core courses, and electives pertaining to one of the following study tracks: Self Management SystemsElectives from a variety of study tracks may be combined to customize a program of interest to the applicant. Independent study courses may be substituted with permission of staff. In addition to course work, the Ph.D. applicant is required to complete an internship, and to produce a dissertation that makes a substantial contribution to the general understanding of the student's chosen field of specialization. Admission Requirements: The study of consciousness requires an understanding of a variety of human and natural processes, resulting in a curriculum that demands knowledge of a wide range of traditional university level subjects. Therefore, prerequisites for the Ph.D. program include demonstrated knowledge in the following areas: Western and Eastern PhilosophyApplicants must demonstrate adequate knowledge in these areas in order to be admitted to the Doctoral program, along with the undergraduate credit or equivalency described below. Any deficiencies may be made up in a customized review course, the content of which will be determined on a case by case basis. The prerequisite requirement must be completed before graduate work can begin. The Ph.D. level course work is designed to be a three year graduate-level degree program. The requirement for admission to the program therefore is one of the following: 1. Four years (minimum) undergraduate credit at a college or university. 2. An A.A. degree from a two-year college, and two year's equivalent work experience or personal study. 3. Work experience and personal study equivalent to four years of undergraduate work. 4. A Master's degree in any field of study (This degree does not necessarily shorten the three year Ph.D program, unless the Master's degree is in a curriculum similar to the graduate core curriculum offered herein.) In addition to previous study or equivalent credit, the student must demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communications, and in basic college-level mathematics and computer/internet skills. The Ph.D program requires a minimum of three years, or six semesters, of advanced study (plus any prerequisite course work). The applicant may take more time to complete the required study. The program is non-residential. Primary correspondence is via internet/email. The experiential nature of the subject matter will in addition require periodic meetings between staff and applicant. Tuition and Costs: $5000 per 2 semester academic year. Cost is based on academic registration, and not on calendar years (i.e., the applicant registers each semester at the completion of the previous semester's work. The time required for the student to complete a semester of academic/experiential work may vary). Tuition may be paid at the beginning of each semester, or on a monthly payment schedule, as follows: Monthly plan: initial $500 payment, followed by monthly payments of $425. (The student may quit the program at any time. However, tuition payments will not be refunded.) Additional costs: The experiential nature of the subject motivates many students to explore techniques and principles on a deep personal level. The staff is available to supplement the degree program with individual Accelerated Personal Growth and Development coaching. Personal coaching is done in session with the coach, with some follow-up via email, if requested. The cost of all travel, books, and materials will be the responsibility of the student, in addition to tuition. These additional expenses will be estimated at the beginning of each semester, and will vary according to the course work.
