The first conference of its type, "Visions of the Future" brought together scientists and academicians from Russia and the U.S.A. for the exchange of information related to scientific research into parapsychology and paranormal phenomena. The conference was sponsored by the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and the University of California, Santa Barbara, with corporate sponsorship from Santa Barbara Ltd. (a Russian/American joint venture).
